Everybody loves the sound of Valve Recording Equipment from the ’50s and ’60s or the Classic Transistor Mic Preamps from the ’70s. But what with the Signature Sound of the ’80s?
This decade has a place in the history of Music Production. This was the time when integrated circuits became quite popular.
Silicon Operational Amplifiers encapsulated in the metal cans replaced the discrete circuitry, creating a new type of sound featured in many Greatest Hits from the ’70s and ’80s!
The EQ5169 is most probably the Only EQ that uses Vintage NOS Integrated Circuits. The same integrated circuits were used in the late ’70s and early ’80s in the Studio Recording Equipment.
Those components created the characteristic sound of old consoles from the ’80s due to the limited bandwidth and specific distortion performance.
Early IC Opamps were the essential ingredient of the 80s Sound! With the EQ5169 you can get the Genuine Sound of the ’80s in your Recording Studio!

NOS Integrated Circuits
The EQ5169 is made with original NOS Integrated Circuits manufactured in the 70s and 80s.
This is a unique feature of our product!
This means that you will get the most authentic tone of the 169 type EQ.
Musical EQ Inspired by Swiss Design
The EQ5169 a three-band EQ with the quasi-parametric Mids Control inspired by a very popular classic Swiss console design.
Although the EQ5169 may look simple, it gives almost infinite creative possibilities thanks to the musical EQ curves and the intuitive controls.
The LOW and HIGH Bands have three frequency settings selectable by three-position toggle switches.
The sweepable MID section covers the frequencies between 200Hz and 8kHz. All 3 Bands have a boost/cut range of +/- 15dB.
The EQ5169 is very easy to use even for beginners and it is a valuable addition to any professional studio setup.
HRK Active Transformer
Bart Hrk has developed a proprietary design for an Active Transformer, aimed at addressing the limitations of traditional passive transformers.
Traditional passive transformers are known to be vulnerable to electromagnetic interference, such as 50/60Hz hum and HF RF smog. Additionally, their frequency response is contingent upon load and source impedance, which adversely affects the overall performance of analog studio equipment.
The HRK Active Transformer is a game changer that not only resolves the issues associated with passive transformers but also retains and amplifies the desired characteristics of the transformer output stage. This includes the enrichment of harmonic content and the enhancement of tonal response.
What sets the HRK Active Transformer apart is its ability to deliver the rich, beloved sound that audio enthusiasts seek, including the harmonic content and tonal response, while simultaneously eliminating the drawbacks of passive transformers.
Furthermore, the Active Transformer introduces a delicate “Air” effect and boasts an extended low-frequency (LF) performance, adding depth and clarity to the sound.
Another remarkable feature of the Active Transformer is its dynamic saturation, which is dependent on the output level. As the output signal level increases, the Active Transformer exhibits greater saturation, reminiscent of the warm and rich sound produced by classic studio equipment.
In summary, the HRK Active Transformer is an innovative solution that offers superior sound quality, eliminates electromagnetic interference, and enhances harmonic content and tonal response. It is an invaluable asset for professionals and audiophiles seeking to elevate their audio experience.
